Yesterday, I felt fortunate to have the chance to connect with local Interim Executives in the Bay Area. Due to the virus, we switched our semi-monthly meetings to a Zoom call. This meeting we talked about how the daily uncertainty caused by concern about the spread of the virus may affect leadership transition. One of our group wondered if it is the right time to transition the new "permanent" E.D. on board or if she should increase her overlap to reassure staff. Another of us is stepping in as an Interim Leader and wondering if prolonging the exiting E.D.'s transition would be reassuring or just prolonging "taking the bandaid off." I was glad to have my local group to talk to. And I also wondered how our colleagues across the country are experiencing this. Are you seeing people delay a leadership transition? Or speed it up? Any other changes?
