Hey folks! I would love your input on a conundrum that I'm having. The majority of my work is with boards on CEO transitions. While I don't think of myself as a "recruiter," that doesn't mean that other people don't. I'm getting a few messages a day to touch base about folks careers - how they should update their LinkedIn profiles, where they should be looking for jobs, etc. It's my nature to make myself available - answering their LinkedIn notes, setting up calls, but the number of requests I'm getting is beyond my bandwidth. Let me be clear - these are not active candidates for the roles that I'm recruiting for, rather these are folks that are merely in the job market. Have you figured out how to handle this in your own practice? I expect to have an influx with workforce shifts due to the pandemic, and I want to be helpful but have boundaries on my own capacity.

I wrote this blog post this week after dealing with clients in tailspins after cancelling programs and fundraisers. I clearly understand the instinct to try to do more fundraising and visibility work right now, but I've found a lot of E.D.s are not setting up the foundation - talking with the board, communicating with staff, and looking at their bottom lines and burn rates. We're looking for a unique Venn diagram of Japan experience and fundraising skills, specifically with individual and corporate donors. I saw this on Twitter this evening. https://twitter.com/prncssmononoko/status/1233136991782494208?s=20 Search/Recruiter folks, are you hearing similar things from candidates in the communities you serve? This is a hot topic among my contacts in the DC area, particularly among candidates of color. Interested to hear how folks are/would be addressing this if they were put in the situation that this recruiter was?
