How much information to share after a "resignation" driven by the board?

I don't know how much help I will be, but I would like to add a bit for my own benefit. I am in a very similar situation and because there has been little sharing about why the CEO was let go it has made changing the culture and work of the staff very difficult. The public facing statements from Board and CEO were both positive. And the ex-CEO continues to exert influence over staff. Same questions as above and also how do you deal with getting staff focused and headed in a new direction?
